About the Project

Designed to achieve a LEED Silver rating, the 164,000-SF Airport Basin Project included the development of a 40-acre parcel east of Los Alamos County Airport to build new fleet maintenance facilities for Los Alamos County (LAC) and Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS).  The project included construction of six independent buildings that provide office space, shops and maintenance, ready stock, equipment storage, and tool crib areas for the schools’ facilities maintenance and transportation departments, public works divisions (facilities, pavement, traffic, and transit), LAC organizations (utilities including gas, water, sewer, electric, risk, and parks), fleet management and warehouse departments, a truck wash for county and school-owned vehicles, and a fuel storage area.
