Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport Sky Train Stage 2

About the Project

Hensel Phelps performed Construction Manager at Risk services for the Sky Train Stage 2 project at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. This project marks the completion of the overall Sky Train system, which originated in 2008 with Hensel Phelps performing Stage 1 Fixed Facilities.

Stage 2 connects Terminal 3 to the rental car center just west of Sky Harbor Airport. Passengers can now utilize this service from east to west points of Sky Harbor to connect between various parking lot & passenger pick-up locations, airport terminals 3 & 4 and the rental car center.

Phase 2 of the Sky Train consisted of a 2.5-mile extension of elevated, at-grade and below-grade guideway with two passenger stations. The 24th street station serves the west end of the airport’s economy parking and passenger public transportation connections. The rental car center station allows incoming/outgoing travelers a direct route to the current rental car center served by various rental car companies. The project also included the structural accommodations for an additional station to serve the future West Terminal as the airport continues to grow and requires the expansion of available travel gates.
