Hensel Phelps New Washington Marriott Marquis Hotel Profiled by Modern Steel Construction

Tuesday July 16, 2013

The Hensel Phelps New Washington Marriott Marquis Hotel has been profiled by Modern Steel Construction Magazine for its progressive top-down construction, supported by steel, facilitating Washington, D.C.’s deepest building.  The project design called for extending the construction 100 feet below grade, which is deeper than any other building in the Nation’s Capital.  While the 15-story building is primarily framed with concrete, its seven below-grade levels rely on more than 5,100 tons of structural steel to facilitate the top-down construction method.  Link to Moderen Steel Construction article.
