In May, we celebrate National Military Appreciation Month to raise awareness and encourage the celebration and appreciation of those who currently serve or have served in the United States Armed Forces.
Hensel Phelps has a long history of supporting our active duty and retired military. Our Veteran’s Network Group, VNet, is dedicated to fostering camaraderie and support among those who have served or are currently serving in the National Guard or Reserves. This group embodies the ethos of service, translating it seamlessly into the construction industry. Beyond merely offering a network for veterans, it actively works to enhance their quality of life, ensuring they feel valued and empowered within our workforce. Through mentorship programs, skill-building workshops and community outreach initiatives, VNet creates a nurturing environment where veterans can thrive personally and professionally. Their unwavering dedication not only enriches the lives of individual veterans but also strengthens the fabric of our entire company, embodying the spirit of solidarity and resilience.
VNet and our Southwest Airlines Concourse 0 project team at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) coordinated support for Honor Flight Southland to welcome home a plane full of World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans.
Honor Flight Southland makes arrangements to take veterans to Washington, D.C., allowing them to reflect on the memorials that honor their service. When the flight returns, the veterans are provided a proper welcome home, as most did not experience this when they returned home from war decades ago. A full color guard, a drummer, bagpipe players and a large, enthusiastic crowd greeted the veterans as they returned to LAX.
