Hensel Phelps Awarded Design-Build Contract for The Basic School Student Quarters at Quantico

Hensel Phelps was awarded a Design-Build contract with the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), Washington, D.C., for The Basic School (TBS) Student Quarters, Phases 5, 6, 7 & 8, at Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA. The contract is for Phases 5 & 6, which includes design and construction of two new student quarters for The Basic School. Phases 7 & 8 will be awarded as options to design and construct two additional student quarters. Each student quarter’s facility will support billeting for Marine officers undergoing initial training.

To address the military’s current energy security and sustainability needs, the buildings will be constructed using NetZero energy requirements. The student quarters’ will also be constructed to meet LEED® Silver Certification through the U.S. Green Building Council.  Hensel Phelps is teamed with RJC Architects, Haynes Whaley Associates, Inc., Timmons Group, Inc., GeoConcepts Engineering, Inc., and PFP Engineering & Design, Inc.
