Welcome to contractors page for the North Sea-Tac Airport Renovation (NorthSTAR), an unprecedented working arrangement between the Port of Seattle and Alaska Airlines to renovate the North Satellite with the goal to better serve passengers at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The North Satellite Renovation and Expansion Program includes extending the building 240 feet to the west, adding approximately 18160,000 square feet to the facility and renovating the existing building.
• The renovation includes architectural, seismic and other structural upgrades, all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, lighting, data, vertical circulation (new escalators and elevators) communications, security and aircraft support systems (e.g. 400 Hz, Pre-conditioned Air, eGSE and GSE parking positions, and Hydrant Fueling Systems).
• Underground infrastructure utility modifications, upgrades and relocations within Aircraft Operating Areas (AOA) around the North Satellite and adjacent taxi lanes.
• Surrounding site re-grade, apron pavement and panel replacement, pavement striping, pavement lighting and storm drainage reconfiguration.
• Abatement of regulated materials as required (asbestos, lead paint, PCBs, etc.).
• Expansion of existing NSAT baggage make-up pier sort system.
The construction of the expansion and renovation will occur while the terminal is operational so temporary facilities such as barriers, walls, ventilation, lighting, elevators, escalators and weather protection will be vital during construction phase to maintain all essential airport and airline operations and systems within and around the construction site limits.
The North Satellite Renovation and Expansion is phased in 2 major areas. The expansion of the terminal begins in January of 2017 and will be operational in December of 2018 (we have listed on our website 2Q 2019?). While the major portion of the renovation begins with the turnover of the expansion and completes in the summer (our site says spring) of 2021.
