Hensel Phelps Turns Over LAX T1 West Terminal

Thursday April 21, 2016

Hensel Phelps has officially turned over the West Terminal portion of the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Terminal 1 Southwest Airlines Modernization Program.

All of the interior finishes were replaced, including terrazzo flooring, high-impact wall paneling and the faceted metal panel ceiling which creates a bright, inviting environment that will have a significant impact on the customer experience for years to come.

Along with all-new finishes and infrastructure, the turnover included:

Arrivals Level:  new exterior cladding, storefront systems, two new baggage carousels, oversized bag storage, offices, pump room and MPOE

Ticketing Level:  new exterior drop-off canopy, storefront systems, ticket counters, self-check-in kiosks and flight information systems

Mezzanine Level:  new glass handrails, SWA offices and break rooms

Roof Level:  new skylight systems, AHU units and roofing

Thanks to all involved for their efforts. Particular thanks go to our amazing craft and family of subcontractors who made sure that safety, schedule, and quality goals were met. On to the east side!
